MyQuotaBag is an independent app and is not affiliated with Hermès International or any of its affiliates. This page summarizes public reports from collectors and publishers. It is not verified fact and states no Hermès rule. Each boutique and country works differently and practices change. These are general observations shared without commitment. We do not claim that pre-spend exists or that any amount is required. Collectors describe bags going to established clients who buy over time, come back and build a relationship with their boutique. No outcome, offer or allocation is predicted or guaranteed.

What is the history of 24 Faubourg Saint-Honoré?
Hermès moved its workshops to 24 Faubourg Saint-Honoré in 1880 and the address is still the registered office of Hermès International.
Details and sources
- 1837: Thierry Hermès opens a harness workshop in Paris, according to Hermès.
- 1880: his son Charles-Émile moves the workshops to 24 Faubourg Saint-Honoré and opens a store there, according to Hermès. Some secondary sources date the start of retail sales to 1889.
- Today: the address is the registered office of Hermès International. Over the years the store grew into the neighboring buildings at numbers 26 and 28, according to Sotheby's.
- The rider on the roof: a horseman known as l'Artificier, created for the 150th anniversary of the house in 1987, according to The Peak.
- The rooftop garden: a private garden above the store with an apple tree, the inspiration for the fragrance Un Jardin sur le Toit. It stays private, closed to visitors.
- The Émile Hermès collection: objects gathered by Émile-Maurice Hermès and kept in private rooms of the store, not open to the public. About 250 pieces traveled to Montreal in 2016, according to Pointe-à-Callière.
- The windows: from 1978 to 2013 Leïla Menchari designed the store's windows, according to Another Magazine.
- The name lives on: the Birkin Faubourg reproduces the façade with its awnings and windows, according to Sotheby's. Barenia Faubourg leather takes its name from the address.

| Estimate | Who said it | When |
|---|---|---|
| 10,000 or more requests for about 30 to 60 slots across the three stores | PurseBop, "reportedly" | May 2024 |
| 8,000 requests a day for about 70 slots at the Faubourg | A forum member, hearsay | Undated |
| About 1% or less per request | A collector | 2026 |
| More than 300,000 requests on a quiet day for 10 to 12 bags | A Sales Associate, as quoted by a collector | 2026 |
These numbers do not agree and we would rather show them all than pick one. Collectors who received an appointment describe time with a Sales Associate who shows what the store has that day. Sometimes that includes a bag; at least two left without one. The appointment is an invitation to see, not the promise of a bag.
What do collectors report from their visits to the Paris stores?
As of October 23, 2026, MyQuotaBag has read 14 collector reports from Hermès visits in Paris. Ten describe a bag offered, through many different paths; one began with the online appointment.
Details and sources
These are stories collectors chose to share, not a success rate. A visit that ends with a scarf is rarely posted, so these reports lean toward bag stories. We show the counts as they are and will add percentages once a group reaches 20 reports.
| Route reported | Reports | Quota bag offered |
|---|---|---|
| Online appointment request | 1 | 1 |
| Walk-in or cancellation, after purchases | 4 | 3 |

| Purchases without an appointment | 1 | 1 |
| Asked at the desk, invited to come back | 1 | 0 |
| No bag at the three stores, after purchases | 1 | 0 |
| Route not stated | 2 | 1 |
| Total | 14 | 10 |
| Store | Reports | Quota bag offered |
|---|---|---|
| Faubourg Saint-Honoré | 4 | 1 |
| Sèvres | 3 | 3 |
| George V | 1 | 1 |
| Not named | 6 | 5 |
Other bags collectors were shown: Picotin (2 mentions), Kelly To Go (2), Jypsière (2), Evelyne, Lindy, Bolide, Geta, Halzan and 24/24 (1 each).
- Two of the three reports at Sèvres come from the same collector. Four reports at the Faubourg are too few to compare stores.
- The Purchase Ratios collectors declared in Paris run from no Paris purchase at all to about 1.00:1 (6 reports). A Paris appointment follows a different path from a home boutique, so MyQuotaBag keeps these journeys apart from its overall figures.
- Several collectors say their purchase history from another country did not appear in Paris and a new client profile was opened; others say it did. See Does purchase history carry across countries?

How does the tax refund work at Hermès in France?
Visitors who live outside the European Union can ask for a VAT refund on purchases above €100 including tax. Collectors report getting back about 10% of the price.
Details and sources
- You live outside the European Union, you are 16 or older and you stay in France for less than six months.
- Your purchases add up to more than €100 including tax. French customs says at the same store on the same day; Service Public allows purchases over three consecutive days. The two official pages do not say the same thing.
- You leave the EU with the goods before the end of the third month after the month of purchase and validate the form at a PABLO kiosk at your last EU exit point.
- The refund comes from the store or its refund operator, never from customs. An operator may deduct a handling fee.
France's standard VAT rate is 20%, which makes VAT about 16.7% of a price that includes it. By our own math, that is the most a refund could be before fees.
What collectors report: about 10% back, processed in the Faubourg store on an online order picked up there (October 2026). One collector says online orders get no refund; another received it in store. Ask the store before you pay. For prices in Europe, see Hermès retail prices.

How this page was written
Each section answers one question in its first sentence, then gives the details. Every answer carries its status and its date and the sources are listed with their dates at the end of the page. What collectors report is written as reported, never as an Hermès rule. Collector discussions are counted by platform; a thread is linked only where it supports a specific point and never when it tells one person's story. Figures from MyQuotaBag Data are read from the dataset each time the page is built.
