THE COLLECTOR GUIDE

New to Hermès?

This is our Collector Guide. This is a great tool to use for quick reference.

MyQuotaBag is an independent app and is not affiliated with Hermès International or any of its affiliates. This page summarizes public reports from collectors and publishers. It is not verified fact and states no Hermès rule. Each boutique and country works differently and practices change. These are general observations shared without commitment. We do not claim that pre-spend exists or that any amount is required. Collectors describe bags going to established clients who buy over time, come back and build a relationship with their boutique. No outcome, offer or allocation is predicted or guaranteed.

Quota bags

Where the journey begins.

Quota bags are the Hermès bags collectors report being limited to a few per client, above all the Birkin and the Kelly.

Collectors most often report two a year. Hermès has not published that limit.

Pre-spend

What comes before the offer.

Pre-spend is what collectors call the purchases made in other departments before a quota bag is offered.

Hermès has published no rule on it. What counts and how much come from collector reports.

Getting the bag

The path to an offer.

Collectors describe a first Birkin as an offer from a Sales Associate, after a purchase history and a relationship at one boutique.

Paris appointments, travel and private sales each follow their own rules.

Choosing

Two bags, two characters.

The Birkin is open and carried by two handles; the Kelly is structured, with one handle and a strap.

Size, leather and how you live matter more than what is in demand.

Beyond the boutique

Online, resale and auction.

Hermès sells some bags online, but not the Birkin, Kelly or Constance.

Resale is immediate and costs more; auctions set the records.

Around the world

One house, many boutiques.

Collectors describe some cities as more competitive than others, but no reliable ranking exists.

Purchase history is reported to follow the client from one country to another.

China

A different way of asking.

In mainland China collectors describe an amount stated in advance, in yuan.

Hermès has denied any purchase requirement. What follows is what visitors report.
