Brief creation story

The story, in brief

This note has its own sources and limits. The inherited catalogue metadata elsewhere on this page remains provisional.

Bouquet Final began with an exchange between flowers and drawing. In its August 2025 Lanterne account, Hermès traces the project to a 2024 collaboration: floral artist Azuma Makoto assembled flowers associated with different climates and Katie Scott translated the arrangement into an illustration. The article presents the bouquet as an expression of the Earth’s variety. It then describes the drawing becoming a silk carré that summer, a specific stage in the work’s journey rather than a complete chronology of every edition.[1]

Hermès explains the title as a reference to a fireworks finale. Its description names tulips, forget-me-nots and lilies, with a red poppy drawing attention at the centre. Color specialists in a Lyon workshop developed different combinations; the same article also records losange and Twilly formats.[1]

The pleasure of this story lies in its succession of translations. A temporary arrangement becomes a drawing, then a textile whose colors can change without losing the conversation that set it in motion.

Documentary context

The collaboration predates the bouquet: in May 2020, It’s Nice That interviewed Scott about Story of Flowers 2, made with Makoto and animator James Paulley.

2020 is the interview date, not Bouquet Final first edition. This claim cites It’s Nice That alone. Big Active concerns the first Story of Flowers and is not evidence for Story of Flowers 2.

This narrowly scoped reference does not establish an independent history of this design or its first edition. Historical evidence and visual credits remain separate.
