This story is limited to the evidence below; it does not verify every version of the design.

Into the Canadian Wild has an unusually clear launch context. On 31 May 2017, Hermès Canada announced a limited-edition silk-twill square celebrating Canada’s 150th anniversary. The release names Alice Shirley as the artist and describes a composition bringing together the country’s seasons, wildlife and natural habitats. Its subject is therefore documented as a broad landscape celebration, not reconstructed from the title alone.[1]

The announced object measured 90 by 90 centimeters. Sales were scheduled to begin on 15 June 2017 through Canadian Hermès stores and the house’s website, accompanied by related storefront displays. The release also names Evergreen Canada as the supported organisation, without explaining a donation amount or mechanism. Those missing details should remain missing rather than be supplied by assumption.[1]

A later WYLDE interview includes the scarf in its presentation of Shirley’s work and records her description of combining observation with imagination. The interview was conducted by her sister, a relationship disclosed by the magazine; it is not an independent verification of launch details. The press-release date, announced launch date and inherited design year thus remain distinct fields. No claim is made here that a specific specimen or every later version was produced in 2017.[2][1]
